Sucker Creek’s Zackary Shantz is hoping for a big season with the Regina Pats in the WHL.

He missed some time last season due to a broken collarbone so staying healthy is among his goals for this season.

“I obviously want to score goals, I think 30 I’d be very happy with but I’m trying not to focus on that too much. I’ll just play my game and those things will come.”

Shantz was traded to the Pats last season after originally being take in the WHL draft by the Prince George Cougars.

One of teammates last season was Connor Bedard and Shantz there’s a number of things about Bedard that make him a special player.

“What stuck out to me was the off-ice side of things and I think that rubbed off on me in a really good way. Just the way he carries himself on and off the ice and all the work he puts in, it’s obviously paying off for him and I think he pushed me to be the best player I could be.”
