As the British Columbia wildfires continue, the smoke continues to blow in.

For the second time this week, it’s caused Environment Canada to issue a Special Air Quality Statement, warning of poor air quality and reduced visibility on roads.

Just this past Sunday, visibility on some highways was only about 50 metres.

In the current statement, officials warn of health risks for children, seniors, as well as those with cardiovascular or lung disease, like COPD and asthma.

They advise anyone with breathing difficulties to stay indoors, and to find an area that is cool and ventilated. And, if your home’s not air-conditioned, head to a public place that is, like a library, shopping mall, or even a recreation centre.

More information on reducing health risks can be found at www.airhealth.ca.
