Slave Lake RCMP arrested suspect for break and enter to residence

Slave Lake, Alta. – On April 13, 2024, at approximately 1:05 p.m., Slave Lake RCMP responded to a complaint of a male attempting to gain entry to a residence on 6 Avenue, North West in Slave Lake. RCMP attended, located and arrested the suspect. Upon investigation, it was determined that the suspect had entered the residence and threated the male owner with bear spray.

As a result of the investigation, Slake Lake resident Joey Martin Bigstone (30) has been charged with:

  • Break and enter to a residence;
  • Assault with a weapon: and
  •  Possession of a prohibited weapon.

At the time of his arrest, Bigstone was wanted on 12 warrants out of the Edmonton area. Bigstone was held for a judicial interim hearing and was remanded in custody. He is to appear next at the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake on April 17, 2024.

“Offenders such as these cause repeated harm to the Slake Lake community, tie-up significant police resources and repeatedly victimizing the public.”, said Staff Sgt. Casey Bruyns, Commanding Officer of the Slave Lake RCMP Detachment. “Great work to the Slake Lake members who responded and apprehended the suspect”.
