The Peace River Rotaract Club has started their “Packed Packs” campaign.
Club president Rylee Armstrong says they’re looking for new or gently used backpacks to be donated so they can be filled with school supplies and delivered to local schools for students in need.
“We want to be able to help parents because I know that these school supplies are expensive. I know that a lot of times, teachers are paying for these school supplies right out of their pocket and I don’t think that’s super fair because they already do such a great job at teaching our youth in the society.”
Armstrong says the campaign will run from now until August 15.
“Students are going to be going back to school in September and a lot of them still need school supplies. We want people to donate their new or gently used backpacks to Style Ryte Cleaners. We’re also going to secure corporate donors to pack the backpacks with school supplies list provided by the schools.”
The club had success with their “Meals for Months” campaign earlier this year and Armstrong believes this one will be a success as well.
