The provincial government is asking Albertans to avoid fishing in rivers, creeks and streams due to the heat and low water levels.

Alberta Environment announced a province-wide angling advisory, saying that conditions can cause stress to fish.

Anglers are advised to fish only in stocked ponds and lakes.

They are asked to fish early in the morning when temperatures are cooler, use single point, single hook lures or flies, keep fish wet at all times, and minimize handling time.
