The RCMP in Alberta is doing some new methods of helping people with questions about protecting their home.
Jennifer Kee, Community Engagement and Outreach Specialist at the K Division, says they asking people to message them on their social media accounts if they have questions about protecting their homes.
“What we’re looking for is an engagement with the communities where they can communicate with me and ask me property safety tips and send me pictures of their property for me to do an assessment that way.”
The RCMP started this #HereToHelp campaign earlier this week and Kee says they’ve gotten a few responses so far.
“A lot of police officers are actually getting in touch with me and they’re asking questions a lot on behalf of the community.”
Kee says it’s not her ideal method of doing assessments, but with the restrictions from the pandemic, they using a different forum to help people.
