May 31 2023 – The fire continues to remain active south of the Cenovus plant and West and South West of Rainbow Lake closer to the BC border and along Bivouac Road. Heavy equipment will be working all day today on containment of the Southern edge of this fire. On the North East guard protecting Chateh, everything is looking secure at this point. The Town remains cold and we are looking good right now for our big re-entry day on Friday June 2nd.
This morning, our website, www.rainbowlake.ca, received a big update with updated information and descriptions on re-entry day and the days following. If you navigate to the webpage and scroll down a little bit you will see a link titled TOWN OF RAINBOW LAKE RE-ENTRY INFORMATION MAY 31, 2023. Here you will find the re-entry plan, information book, freezer plan, security plan, insurance advice, AHS advice and Atco advice. All of these items have been built to make sure you can re-enter our community safely and provide tips on how to take care of your home upon return.
We are getting closer and closer to re-entry day. Please be patient and do not attempt to come in earlier then the prescribed date. There are still active spots on the highway and clean up happening here in Town. For planning purposes for your families, we are likely looking at re-entry on Friday June 2nd, 2023 beginning at 9am. Please make sure you drive safe as there may be a larger number of people on the road then usual.
As always, stay safe and we will provide more information on re-entry in tomorrows update.
