If you thought the Wheatbelt Baseball League’s East Division Semi-Final Series between the Peace River Stampeders and the Manning Mets was over, think again.
Originally, the Stampeders won 3-2 on Tuesday, August 1 against the Mets, giving them the series in three games. But then, Manning filed a protest with the league, alleging that the Stamps used illegal players during that game.
After some investigation, the league ruled in the Mets favour, which overturned the win by the Stampeders, and gave it to Manning instead, putting the five-game series at 2-1.
So, this put a Game Four in the schedule for tonight at 7 PM at Peace River’s Misery Mountain Ball Diamond. But for this game, the Stampeders couldn’t find enough players for this game, so they forfeited it, giving the win, once again, to the Manning Mets, putting the series at a 2-all tie.
Game Five, the deciding game, is now scheduled for Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in Manning.
