Peace River Police Investigating Vehicle Break-Ins

The Peace River Police Department is reminding residents to lock up their car doors and to not leave any valuables in sight after a string of vehicle break-ins. Constable Daniel Livingston says over the past couple days, there’s been a number of instances of people having their vehicles broke into in Peace River.

“We just want to remind people to take their valuables inside and make sure your doors are locked,” Livingston says. “Really, that’s the best way for us to deter this type of theft – to remove the temptation.”

Livingston says this sort of crime comes in waves, and now that the weather is nice, people don’t mind staying out until three or four in the morning which is when these crimes usually take place. He adds with the amount of break-ins, the police want to remind people the best way to minimize the risk of your vehicle being broken into is again by not leaving any valuables in sight, and locking up those car doors.

“If you do happen to see someone, phone us right away. That way we have a better chance of finding these people. People have a tendency to call the next day, or a couple days later, and that information is much more difficult to use.”
