Peace River’s Food Bank recently got an influx of food and supplies for the needy.
Due to a severe shortage, a call went out for donations.

“Three weeks ago, we were down so low in our food stuffs at the food bank, that we were out of our basic food that we like to give out,” Volunteer Donna McPhillamey told the Trending 55 Newsroom. “So, the appeal went out. And honestly, people have been so generous, that we’ve just been overwhelmed with gratitude for their kindness.”
McPhillamey says the donations couldn’t have come at a more opportune time.
“Again, it’s just so overwhelming that people would do this,” she said. “And that’s especially when we were getting into a dire need here. As well, lots of people were having a hard time themselves, and so to have all this outpouring of support is just amazing. To have all those donations from the individuals, companies and organizations over the last few weeks are awesome.”
She says it’s great to have the shelves filled for all the people who remain in need throughout the year.
“When I talked to Major Grayling Crites and his wife from the Salvation Army,” McPhillamey continued. “They really did want the word out there about how grateful we are and the gratitude we feel for everybody, especially when you didn’t expect it.”
