The Peace River Fire Department is conducting Hazard Reduction Burns today.
Town officials’ advise that there will be smoke in the area, so all windows and doors should be closed.
The South End is the area of focus today. Firefighters are at 103 Street between 104 and 109 Avenues.
In a press release, the town says when and where burning takes place is largely dependent on the weather and winds.
More dates and times of Hazard Reduction Burnings in the area will be released soon.
The town adds that they conduct these burns in order to prevent a major uncontrolled fire from happening.
