Peace River Town Council will wait until the New Year to make decisions on grant applications. The North Peace Performing Arts Festival Association is requesting $5,000 from the town, which will be in early March of next year. According to town documents, council awarded $1,500 to the organization for this year’s festival.
The Peace River Curling Club then asked council for $500. Representatives from the club say this will help them host the Curl for a Cause Funspiel, which would be in support of the MS Society of Canada. The event will be on January 31st and February 1st. The Peace River Winter Swim Club will be hosting the Peace River International Swim meet the weekend of January 18th. That group is asking for $1695. One of the representatives of the swim club says that would come out to the costs of lifeguards as well as pool rental fees.
The Comite Culturel de St-Isidore asked for $1,000 towards its carnival, which will be from February 11-16th. That is the exact same amount of money council provided to the Comite for this year’s Carnival de St. Isidore.
Peace River Mayor Tom Tarpey says a decision will be made on all four applications at the town’s January 13th council meeting.
