Peace River Town Council took the next step towards development of an area on Shaftesbury Trail, North of the Baseball Diamond.
A consultation report for the Upper West Peace North Area Structure Plan was presented at the Town Council Meeting tonight.
The plan is to develop an area (pictured below) for commercial and residential use.
Part of the process is to realign water and sewer lines so that utilities and future developers can work together to create usable land.
This is expected to take place in 2021 and 2022.
The info page on the Town’s website states, “The future subdivision and development of the lands including the planning and installation of stormwater infrastructure and the road network (including the road closures) are driven by the private landowner, and there being market conditions to support the development. It is not possible to specify when this development will occur, however, the plan will ensure that when development does happen, it will work with the infrastructure that has been installed.”
While there isn’t a timeline on when this development may begin, the hope is that the land can facilitate new business and residential opportunities in the future.
Alisha Mody, The Manager of Planning and Development, presented the consultation, and stated that once a few more pieces are in place the hope is to bring the plan forward to town council for first reading. She expects this to happen sometime in the near future.
