Town of Peace River Council Approves 2025 Budget

The Town of Peace River Council has officially passed the 2025 municipal budget, focusing on taxpayer fairness, financial sustainability, and essential infrastructure investment.
“The 2025 budget reflects Council and Administration’s commitment to responsible fiscal management while addressing the critical needs of our community, now and into the
future,” said Mayor Elaine Manzer. “The senior leadership team and I are proud to have brought forward a tax-supported operating budget reflecting a 2 per cent increase, balancing financial pressures with the responsibility of ensuring municipal services are delivered reliably,” said Chief Administrative Officer Barbara Miller.

Notably, this budget starts the process of separating tax revenues and utility fees, moving toward a goal of taxpayers no longer subsidizing utility rates. The result is a more equitable system, with a low municipal requisition compared to many other municipalities. By keeping the municipal tax requisition increase to 2 per cent, the Town is maintaining competitive tax rates while funding essential services and infrastructure.
