Peace River and High Level Councils met on Monday…

Town Council meetings happened on Monday night.

In Peace River, $12,500 in grant money was handed out to seven organizations for their first quarter intake.

  • Recreation/Sport Development Category:

    • The Peace River Municipal Library applied for the grant for their Books & Bowling event, requesting $1500. They were provided with $1000 in funding.
    • Springfield Parent Advisory Council applied for the grant to go toward the cost of a new playground. They had funds of $168,920 raised and a shortfall of $31,080, as of February 14th. They requested $500 to $2000, and were provided $2000.
    • The Peace River Winter Swim Club applied for the grant to go toward the cost of the rental for the Peace Regional Pool and lifeguards for the February 26 & 27, 2022 Peace River Invitational Swim Meet. They requested $1700 and received $1700.
    • The Peace River Fire Fighters Association applied for the grant to go toward the rental of the Baytex Energy Centre for the January 15th Battle of the Badges Charity Hockey Game. They requested $406.41 and received $406.41.
    • The Friends of the Shepherd Society applied for the grant to go toward a new playground. They requested $12,500 and received $5,900.

    Community Development Category:

    • Community Futures applied for the grant to go toward their Women of the North Conference. They requested $500 and received $500.
    • Boreal Nature Network applied for the grant to help enhance 2 (two) volunteer positions for 2022, with additional consideration for 2023 and beyond. They requested $2000 and received $1000.

In High Level, Council has agreed to purchase a new Electric Zamboni for the Sports Complex.

The Zamboni, valued at just under $200,000, is expected to be delivered by August.
