Peace Regional RCMP lay charges in Attempted Murder

RCMP RELEASE – June 12, 2023:

Peace River, Alta – On June 10, 2023, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Peace Regional RCMP were conducting proactive patrols in the area of 99 Street in Peace River when a community member notified police of a male in distress.

Officers located a male victim who had sustained serious injuries in relation to several stab wounds.  Emergency Medical Services and Fire were called to assist while RCMP provided primary medical care.  The victim was airlifted by STARS to hospital in serious life-threatening condition.

As a result of the investigation, Richard Anderson (27), a resident of Peace River, Alta, was charged with attempted murder.

At the time of his arrest, Richard was also on three outstanding warrants of: Failure to comply with Probation x1 and Failure to attend court x2.

Richard was held for a Judicial Interm Hearing where he has been remanded with a court date of June 19, 2023 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Peace River.

The victim is currently in stable condition.

As these matters are before the courts, no further updates or details surrounding the incident will be provided.
