UPDATE: Northern Sunrise County Telephone Town Hall Moved to next week

UPDATE: Northern Sunrise County’s telephone town hall that was scheduled for 7:00 tonight has been postponed due to technical difficulties.

In an e-mail to the newsroom, a spokesperson says the call will now be on Monday, August 18 at 7:00 PM.

Anyone who registered is still on the list and anyone who wishes to join the call can click the link below to register.

Northern Sunrise County will be hosting a telephone town hall meeting on Tuesday night.

The focus will be on the Alberta government’s review of the property assessment model.

Last month, municipal councils were notified that the province is considering reducing the amount of property taxes that oil and gas companies need to pay.

Several governments within the Peace Region have expressed concern in how a change in assessment models could hamper the bottom lines of counties and municipal districts.

Among the governments opposing the plan include: Northern Sunrise County, the County of Northern Lights, Birch Hills County, the Municipal District of Greenview, and the County of Grande Prairie.

Anyone wanting to take part in Tuesday night’s call with Northern Sunrise County can register by clicking here.

The call starts at 7:00 PM and attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions.
