On April 12, 2022, Northern Sunrise County Council approved the 2022 to 2024 operations budget and the 2022 to 2026 capital budget. The 2022 municipal budget projects revenues of $30,261,954, operating expenditures of $21,001,013 and capital acquisitions expenditures of $12,279,050. Council has motioned net reserve transfers to balance the 2022 budget.
Council approved the 2022 tax rate bylaw on April 26, 2022, and directed Administration to provide the following tax discounts for the 2022 Tax Notice Year:
- A 5% discount for residential and farm accounts, on the general municipal portion only,
for 2022, if the full balance of property taxes is paid by June 30, 2022.
Council and Administration have developed a balanced budget that invests in critical projects and essential programs with no increase to the municipal portion of property taxes.
The County recognizes the pressures the continued economic recovery and global pandemic have put on many households and businesses and is thankful that our strategic decision-making allows us to continue providing some relief to County taxpayers. Once again, the budget maintains service levels and continues to place the County in a stable financial position.
