Northern Sunrise County has recently acquired a 400-year supply of gravel.
In a press release, Reeve Garrett Tomlinson says the acquisition shows that residents can be assured the county’s planning responsibly for the future.
“A long-term gravel supply is critical to the planning and maintenance of our transportation network,” said Tomlinson.
The resource is located in the Marie Reine area. It’ll serve as a strategic resource for the county’s southwest infrastructure.
The release says that the purchase provides for the preservation of a historically significant site, which will continue to be known as Murphy’s Flats.
The planning process for gravel extraction will start immediately. But development’s not expected to start until 2020.
