Metis communities to benefit from funding for mental health and suicide prevention
June 17, 2022
The United Conservative government is helping local community organizations expand access to mental health supports for youth. The Gift Lake Metis Settlement is set to receive funding to support their operations.
Through the Youth Suicide Prevention Grant Program, Alberta’s government is providing $3 million over the next two years to youth-focused community programs. The Gift Lake Metis Settlement is one of 13 organizations to receive this funding, which will help dedicated professionals provide lifesaving suicide prevention and mental health supports to children and teens.
“It is important for children and teens to grow up in an enriching environment where they feel supported by their peers. This funding will help youth in the Gift Lake Metis Settlement connect with their community and receive support for their mental health.”
Pat Rehn, MLA for Lesser Slave Lake
