
Rain has been falling on most wildfires burning in Alberta, and the forecast calls for it to continue today.
Christie Tucker of Alberta Wildfire says it could be a turning point for firefighters, but also adds that 2023 has been the most active spring for fires on record in the province.
Close to 945-thousand hectares have burned this year, surpassing 615-thousand in 2019.
Bre Hutchinson, executive director of the Alberta Emergency Management Agency, says the fire danger remains very high to extreme in northern Alberta.
More than 10-thousand Albertans remain evacuated from their homes.
Progress continues to fight stubborn fires such as the East Prairie Metis Settlement, where dozens of structures have been reported destroyed.
