Peace River, Alta. – Peace Regional RCMP are pleased to report that Rocky Cardinal (13) has been located and is safe.
Peace Regional RCMP would like to extend gratitude for assisting in the 7 day search for Rocky, to the many community members who stepped up to assist with patrols and calling in tips and volunteering their services; beyond this, a thank you to Search and Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, Fire and other support services who assisted along the way.
No further updates are expected.

Peace Regional RCMP seek public assistance in locating missing youth – Update
Peace River, Alta. – Peace Regional RCMP are still seeking the public’s assistance in locating missing 13-year-old Rocky Conrad Cardinal.
On June 2, 2023, at approximately 2:45 p.m., a community member reported seeing Rocky; they were able to take a photo of Rocky and contacted RCMP who with the assistance of Rocky’s family, made extensive, though unsuccessful searches in the area.
Despite several potential sightings of Rocky since he was reported missing, extensive patrols by RCMP, Search and Rescue, his family and the community, Rocky still remains unfound.
RCMP are releasing an updated description and this photo.
Rocky was last seen wearing:
- Dark or black sweater and pants
- Shoes with white soles and checkered print on top
Rocky could potentially still be in the Peace River area, however has expressed interest in the past to go to High Level, Alta.
Community members are asked to complete a detailed search inside their homes, sheds and outbuildings for any signs of Rocky.

Peace Regional RCMP seek public assistance in locating missing youth
Peace River, Alta. – Peace Regional RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating missing 13-year-old Rocky Conrad Cardinal.
Rocky was last seen at bedtime on June 1, 2023, at his residence. On June 2, 2023, RCMP received a report that Rocky Cardinal was not in the home in the morning.
Rocky is described as:
- 13 years old
- Black, short hair
- Brown eyes
- Light to medium skin tone
- Approximately 5 foot 4 inches
- Approximately 110 pounds with a thin build
- Has a black under armour backpack
Rocky could potentially still be in the Peace River area, however has expressed interest in the past to go to High Level, Alta.
