Man charged after attempting to run from police

A 33-year-old man from Grande Prairie has a court date following an incident in Grimshaw on Monday morning. According to the Peace Regional RCMP, officers were informed about a possible sighting at around 10:00 AM of a vehicle that had been reported stolen. The vehicle has been taken from a fenced area of a Grimshaw business earlier that morning. Officers approached the vehicle and the driver attempted to flee. Thanks to tire spikes, the car was stopped and the diver was taken into custody, but not before colliding with an occupied police vehicle. Michael Jeffrey Ginter will be in court on January 13 on the following charges, none of which have been proven in court:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Operation of a motor vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by a peace officer
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited from doing so
  • Obstruction of a peace officer
  • Possession of a controlled substance (x2)
  • Failing to comply with conditions of a release order (x6)
  • Mischief by damaging property (x3)
