The Federal Government has passed the introduction of 988.
It’s a new three-digit number for people needing assistance for suicide prevention.
988 has been introduced and passed in the House of Commons, for suicide prevention and support.
Similarities in the format with 911, is present with 988.
Tammy Monro is a Public Education and Outreach Director with the Resource Center for Suicide Prevention, based in Grande Prairie.
She talks about how this number is needed, and how it eliminates the remembering of 10 digits, as opposed to 3 digits.
