A local police force is doing its best to keep roads in our region safe.

The Lakeshore Regional Police Service teamed up with: the Peace Regional RCMP, the High Prairie RCMP and the Alberta Sheriff Traffic Services to conduct patrols in the Driftpile Cree Nation and Sucker Creek First Nation on Friday, December 4.

According to a statement from the Lakeshore Police, officers checked approximately 400 vehicles, and five impaired drivers were taken off the road.

The enhanced patrol also resulted in over 50 tickets being handed out.

There was also a significant amount of fines issued for drivers operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

With the holidays almost upon us, the Lakeshore Regional Police Service would like to remind all road users that traffic safety is a shared responsibility.
