The Peace Regional Pool in Peace River is set to welcome back a long-missed feature: the hot tub. The Town of Peace River and Northern Sunrise County have announced the Peace Regional Pool Hot Tub Replacement Project, made possible through a strong regional partnership and significant funding from Northern Sunrise County.
The project’s total budget is $1.61 million, with Northern Sunrise County contributing $800,000. The Town of Peace River will cover the remaining costs, including over $650,000 from grant funding.
Mayor Elaine Manzer expressed enthusiasm, stating, “The hot tub was a much-loved part of the facility, and we’re thrilled to bring it back. This is also about long-term sustainability, as our building assessment shows that with continued investment, the pool can serve the region for another 20-plus years.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in August 2025 during the annual pool shutdown, with completion expected by January 2026. The main pool will remain open throughout most of the construction, with any short-term closures communicated in advance.
Reeve Corinna Williams of Northern Sunrise County added, “The return of the hot tub is something many people have been looking forward to, and we’re proud to help make it happen.”
The new hot tub will be fully accessible and designed to serve a wide range of users, highlighting the ongoing collaboration between the Town of Peace River and Northern Sunrise County to invest in regional amenities that benefit everyone.
