High Prairie RCMP executes 105 outstanding warrants

From between February 1 to 15, 2021, the High Prairie RCMP conducted a targeted warrant initative in the rural communities of Whitefish First Nations, High Prairie, Peavine Metis Settlement, Gift Lake Metis Settlement and East Prairie Metis Settlement resulting in executing multiple arrest warrants.

Through the initiative; 105 outstanding warrants were executed, a number of stolen vehicles were recovered and drugs and weapons were seized. Additional charges for offences were also included but not limited to; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, operating a motor vehicle without registration, failure to attend court and failing to comply with conditions.

In result of the initiative, the High Prairie detachment also laid new, additional charges on several individuals.

26 year old Nathan Carifelle of Peavine First Nation is facing 18 charges including;

  • Obstructing a peace officer
  • Weapon related charges (x12)

Following a judicial hearing, Carifelle was remanded and his next scheduled court appearance is in High Prairie Provincial Court on February 22, 2021.

25 year old Richard Anderson of Gift Lake Metis Settlement, has been charged with:

  • Obstructing a peace officer
  • Weapon related charges (x2)
  • Fail to comply with conditions

Following a judicial hearing, Anderson was remanded and his next scheduled court appearance is in High Prairie Provincial Court on March 1, 2021.
