The manager of the Grimshaw Food Bank says while things have been busy for them recently, they think there is a greater need out there.

Eileen McGuire says with the effects that COVID has had on the region, she feels there’s more people who could use the food bank right now.

“I’m sure there’s more out there because of COVID-19 that are feeling that pinch and could use some help but either because their ashamed or whatever reason, they’re not coming to the food bank. We’d sure like them to come because we have the food there ready to give them.”

The food bank is currently operating out of the Dee-Jay Motel, they’re open Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 AM to 12 PM.

McGuire says there are some items that they’re looking to get more donations for.

“We always seem to run out of peanut butter, jam, soda crackers, rice particularly. We need Sidekicks right now and tomato soup. Those are the things we run out of the most.”

McGuire says they serve the areas of Grimshaw, Berwyn, Brownvale, Dixonville and “everywhere in between that needs help.”

The Grimshaw food bank officially started up in February.
