Organizational Meeting
The Town of Grimshaw held its annual organizational meeting where Stacey Messner was re-elected as Deputy Mayor. Mayor Wald continues in the role of mayor, who was elected by residents three years ago during the municipal election. Council also set council meeting dates, reviewed the remuneration schedule and Councillors were appointed to various committees.
Crosswalks
Council approved a recommendation to install a crosswalk at the corner of 46th Avenue and 51 Street. The crosswalk would include signage and wheelchair ramps. This recommendation originated from a resident request and will be completed in the spring. Crosswalk signage will be installed this fall.
Direct Control Property
Council received a letter from a resident requesting to relocate a manufactured home to a lot located at 5605-49th Street zoned as Direct Control. Council voted to deny the request.
Hospital Security
Due to ongoing security issues at the Grimshaw/Berwyn and District Community Health Center, Council voted to write a letter addressing concerns and requesting support to Alberta Minister of Health Adriana LaGrange. A copy of the letter will be provided to local Alberta Health Services executive staff, RCMP and MLA Dan Williams.
CAO Performance Review Policy
Council reviewed and accepted amendments to the CAO Annual Performance Review Policy. The CAO Performance Review will take place annually in December/January.
Cemetery Bylaw 1178 Revision
Council accepted an amendment to Cemetery Bylaw 1178, reverting veteran plots F53 to F60 to general plots.
