FORT VERMILION FIRE AND RESCUE HAVE HAD A TOUGH 48 HOURS

The Fort Vermilion Fire and Rescue have been working hard over the past 48 hours.

The crew responded to two separate calls that involved deaths.

Yesterday, the crew assisted in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 88 resulting in three fatalities on the scene, while the other call was to a home which ended up being a ‘deceased upon arrival’ event.

Fire Department Chief Steve McGean says as a team they met last evening to debrief and all members had a chance to discuss the events.

“This is a crucial time to get people to talk – they can sit at home and think about has happened and that is when all the emotions can come out.”

McGean says he will be following up with the rest of the team members over the next 48 hours.

“As a department we are a very close strong group, but even more so we are a stronger community. Everyone is getting together to help one another during this time.”

The RCMP will be issue further details of the events.
