The latest numbers from Alberta Health Services are in and they show the death toll from influenza this flu-season has now risen to 75.
With that many flu-deaths in the past 4 months, this is now one of the worst seasons in the province’s recent history.
Alberta’s highest number of flu-deaths recorded was 103 in the 2014-15 season. 1998-99 saw 82 deaths.
AHS also said more than 2,500 Albertans have been hospitalized this season after contracting the flu virus.
More than 1.21 million doses of flu vaccine have been used so far this year out of the 1.6 million doses available.
