
UPDATE – 10am – Friday, May 16
On May 16, 2025, at 2:25 a.m., Peace River RCMP responded to a structure fire at 9704 100 Street in Peace River.
The Peace River Fire Department, with RCMP assistance, has initiated an arson investigation.
Authorities are seeking public assistance and request anyone with dashcam or other footage from area between 11.m. on May 15 and 2:30 a.m. on May 16 to review their recordings and submit any relevant material to the Peace River RCMP.
Individuals with information about the incident are urged to contact the Peace River RCMP detachment at 780-624-6677 or their local police service.

In the early hours of Friday, May 16 a significant fire erupted at the former Shell gas station located on Main Street in downtown, Peace River.
Residents reported hearing a loud “boom” shortly before 3am, followed by the sight of the building engulfed in flames. Emergency response teams promptly arrived at the scene and managed to quickly control and extinguish the blaze, due in part to the Town’s ladder truck. No other structures were affected.
According to Town, the power pole and lines were burnt. This resulted in a power outage spanning the majority of the Town for a period during the night. Power was restored about 45 minutes later, although some businesses near the impacted area may still be without power.
As of now, there is no report on the cause of the fire or other information. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
