Fairview Town Council meets tonight.
One of the topics of discussion is a letter from the MD of Fairview regarding hydroelectricity.
The document is asking the provincial and federal governments to look into adding power producing facilities onto the Peace River, much like the three in the B.C. Peace.
The letter cites the need to create affordable, reliable, and sustainable electricity, to address the rising needs of the province.
Council will also be going over a proposal for additional senior housing.
The idea is to build a 16 unit apartment building that would act to bridge the gap between home ownership and residency in the Harvest Lodge.
Although it would be privately owned, the goal would be to run it at low cost and not for profit.
One of the presentations tonight, involves STARS operations in Fairview and area.
Cases in 2023 have already surpassed other years. A total of 16 flights have been needed so far.
The Council Meeting starts at 7:00 at the Fairview Provincial Building.
