Fairview Airport: The MD of Fairview No. 136 has completed a significant paving overlay on the runway at Fairview Airport, making it ready for smoother landings and takeoffs!
Exciting News at NWP Fairview Campus: There’s been growth in programs and student enrollment! Let’s give a warm welcome to the new faces at Fairview campus and show them our community support.
Budget Planning: Budgets, Budgets, Budgets, it’s the most wonderful time of the year! Council is deep into the budgeting process, focusing on the 5-year capital plan. Next up are the 2025 operational budget and 3-year operational plan, with an interim adoption planned for December 17. Final budgets typically are adopted by April once all provincial data and property assessments are in.
Aquatic Centre Updates: The stair upgrade project is almost complete, with just some final tiling to go before the slide reopens. Given that the facility is over two decades old, we’re also planning an assessment of the main HVAC unit (that loud one over the pool) to help apply for a grant to cover part of the replacement costs. Clear Hills County have pledged contributing $15,000 toward the stair renovation!
New Aquatic Centre Rates: Effective January 1, 2025, a slight rate increase will affect daily drop-ins and lessons. Updated rates are:
    Preschool: $2.00
    Senior/Youth: $4.50
    Adult: $6.50
    Family: $15.00
Debt-Free Milestone: Exciting news—Fairview is now debt-free, yes you heard that right! This may be the first time for the Town. Also, in the last 11 years the tax rate has not been increased and has even gone down twice during that time. Please take some time to discuss these financial successes with your local elected representatives.
Franchise Agreement with ATCO Gas: Council passed a bylaw to renew this agreement, ensuring consistency in local gas services.
Remembrance Day: Join the community on Monday, November 11, for the ceremony at the Fairview Legion. The parade begins at 10:10 am at the arena. Let’s honor our Veterans together.
Fairview Minor Hockey: They’re applying to host the 2025 U18 Tier 2 Provincials from March 27-30. This would be a fantastic event for our community!
Next Meeting: The next regular council meeting is scheduled for November 19, 2024. Meetings are open to the public, so come by if you’re curious about local governance.
