The provincial government is continuing to encourage Albertans to have their say on a potential Alberta Pension Plan.
Finance Minister Nate Horner does stress that they are still “very early on” in the process.
“We’ve asked former finance minister Jim Dinning to lead an engagement panel. His work will begin with the telephone town hall in Northern Alberta. That’s where we find ourselves, very early days. We’ve just released the report, we’re gonna have the engagement panel find out what the potential of this means to Albertans and then we’ll hear if they want us to proceed.”
The province has a website launched for getting feedback and Horner says they’ve received a number of responses already.
“We did honestly see a lot of organized negative responses for sure with chain emails and the like, but since we’ve definitely seen a lot of sincere questioning from people wanting to understand and know more. It is a complicated question and process and that’s why we need to have a panel go out and hear all these questions from Albertans.”
The first of those telephone town halls is for Northern Alberta, and will take place on Monday night.
