Message from Driftpile Cree Nation:
Just a quick update with regard to the fires, DCN is no longer on an evacuation advisory and there is no immediate threat to the Nation. The smoke we see today is due to a directional shift in the wind. We are still in contact with our field officer for this area, Wildfire Operations out of Slave Lake and the Provincial Operations Center. Again, any updates or changes will be posted here. The most helpful way to prevent fires at this time is to adhere to the fire and atv/ohv bans put in place for the Nation’s protection. We also advise people to keep hood fans and bathroom fans running moderately to exhaust smoke outside of the home and keep windows closed if possible.
