The Peace River School Division Board of Trustees has announced the closure of Dixonville School, effective June 30, 2025.
The decision, made during a special meeting on April 28, 2025, was passed with a 5-1 vote, with Trustee Marie Dyck opposing.
The closure comes in response to declining enrollment and concerns over long-term sustainability.
Students will be transferred to Grimshaw Public School. PRSD Board Chair Crystal Owens acknowledged the emotional weight of the decision, emphasizing the board’s commitment to the best interests of all students.
The board expressed gratitude to the Dixonville community for their contributions and pledged support for a smooth transition in the upcoming school year.
