CSNO, Ecole Heritage, and ASAA recoginize teacher provincially

The Conseil scolaire du Nord-Ouest (CSNO) and Heritage School are proud to congratulate Mr. Patrick Simon, Men’s Volleyball Coach at Heritage School, on the prestigious honour he received from the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association (ASAA).

Mr. Simon has been selected as the recipient of the provincial “Set the Bar” recognition for the fall of 2024.

This recognition highlights an individual’s efforts to promote an enriching vision of school sports as vectors of personal development. It highlights a commitment to instilling values such as respect, resilience, positivity and inclusion, while inspiring student athletes to become responsible and caring citizens.

With a long experience as a coach of various sports, Mr. Patrick is an essential pillar of the Heritage School sports community. Mrs. Nicole Walisser, the director of the school, expressed her gratitude:

“We would like to thank Mr. Patrick for all he does for the athletes. His passion, commitment and patience have truly made a difference. Thanks to him, our young people not only progress technically, but they also learn valuable lessons in perseverance, discipline and teamwork. His ability to motivate young people – sometimes even through creative means such as singing – is admirable. We thank Mr. Patrick for his dedication, his energy and for all that he brings, both on and off the field. It’s a privilege to be able to count on such an exceptional coach! »

Kerri Meadows, ASAA Sportsmanship Commissioner, thanked Mr Simon personally:

« Patrick, it is my understanding that you not only demonstrated tremendous sportsmanship throughout the entire Northwest Zone Volleyball Tournament but also showed outstanding leadership amid adversity. You went above and beyond for your team members and represented your school and your zone to the highest standard. You model positive values and conduct yourself in a very empathetic and authentic manner. You are encouraging and uplifting and because of that, I believe wholeheartedly that you have made your players and your school a better place because of it. Patrick, again a big thank you for building a strong culture of sportsmanship and fair play among your teams. I look forward to hearing more amazing stories like this in the future. “
