Covid-19 Update: May 27

On May 26, 2021 Alberta Health Services confirmed 513 additional cases of COVID-19 in the province.

The total number of active cases in Alberta is continually declining and is now at 10,017.

Hospitalization rates are slowly on the downturn; there are currently 538 people in hospital with the virus and 150 are in ICU.

In the North Zone for active cases, there are 68 in Mackenzie County, 21 in the MD of Greenview, 12 in the MD of Peace while all other surrounding counties and MD’s in our region have eight active cases or less.

Vaccination rates around our region:

  • Falher area – 41.9%,
  • Peace River area – 38.5%,
  • Spirit River area – 37%,
  • Fairview area – 35.4%,
  • Manning area – 35.3%,
  • Valleyview area – 33.9%,
  • High Prairie area – 30.7%
  • High Level area (Mackenzie County) – 11.8%

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw says the province will soon have a plan for second dose roll-out and annoucne it as early as the first week of June. As of May 27, 2021, 59.2% of eligible Albertans have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
