On January 26, Alberta Health Services confirmed 366 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 121,901.
14 people passed away, which means 1,587Albertans have now died from COVID-19.
In the North Zone, there are 9,853 cases of COVID-19 and 104 people have passed away.
There are currently 1,132 active cases in our zone with 73 in Big Lakes County, 46 in the MD of Peace, 41 in the MD of Greenview, 33 in Mackenzie County, 13 in Northern Sunrise County, 12 in the MD of Smoky River while all other jurisdictions in our area have two or less active cases.
AHS is reporting that 111,662 people have recovered from the virus.
This means that there are currently 8,652 active cases across Alberta.
Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:
- High Prairie Health Complex
- Peace River Correctional Centre
- Stone Brook Lodge, Grimshaw
- Sugarplum Tree Daycare, Peace River
To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
