
On April 27, Alberta Health Services confirmed 1,539 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 184,840.
Seven people passed away, which means 2,067 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.
635 people are currently in hospital due to COVID.
In the North Zone, there are 19,267 cases of COVID-19 and 155 people have passed away.
There are currently 2,960 active cases in our zone with 151 in Mackenzie County, 96 in Big Lakes County, 40 in the MD of Peace, 38 in Northern Sunrise County, 19 in Clear Hills County, 24 in the MD of Greenview, 16 in the MD of Fairview, 11 in the MD of Spirit River, 10 in the County of Northern Lights and the MD of Smoky River, five in Birch Hills County and two in Saddle Hills County.
AHS is reporting that 162,052 people have recovered from the virus.
This means that there are currently 20,721 active cases across Alberta.
Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:
- The Grocery People, High Level
- Michels Canada, Valleyview
- Peace River Correctional Centre
To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
The Government of Alberta also made masks mandatory indoors.
