Blachford found Not Guilty…

A trial of a high-profile murder in 2019 in Peace River has a verdict.

Mathew Blachford has been found not guilty of second-degree murder in the death of 37 year-old Victorine Jennifer Donovan.

Donovan’s body was found in October of that year, at her apartment building in Peace River’s north end.

An autopsy determined she’d been beaten, and shot five times in the head and shoulder.

Valleyview man sentenced in stolen Police Car case…

Two people are serving jail-time for an incident of stealing a police car last March.

David Pinfield of Valleyview has been given just under four years after pleading guilty to flight, resistance, theft, and failure to comply charges.

Pinfield’s accomplice, Sara Desjarlais was given two years in February, for her role in the incident.

High Prairie man sentenced in Firearms Deal case…

A High Prairie man has been given 5 years in prison for possession of firearms and drugs.

Dustin Prinz was arrested in May of 2019 after police was tipped on a possible firearms deal in a Grande Prairie shopping center parking lot.

In the same case, Loriann Vegso was given three years for weapons trafficking last March.

Also, Hailey Badger was given a two-year conditional sentence last April for having a firearm in a vehicle.

Day-Home murder case has Hearing dates set in High Prairie…

Preliminary hearing dates have been set in High Prairie, in the death of an infant.

Dates in the Kyra Backs murder investigation have been set to start October 31st.

Backs was arrested last October in the death of 7-month old Oaklan Cunningham.

Backs ran a Day-home at the time.

Paddle Prairie murder case verdict…

A 2020 murder investigation in Paddle Prairie has produced a verdict.

Randall James Cardinal has been found not guilty in the murder of 28 year-old Brett Daniel Sowan.

Cardinal was arrested in September of that year, and was on trial in High Level.

Both men were from Paddle Prairie.

John D’Or Prairie murder case verdict…

A guilty verdict has been handed to a man in a 2020 murder investigation.

Jason Alec Tallcree was found responsible for first-degree murder, sexual interference, and interference of a body.

15 year-old Roderica Ribbonleg was last seen in July of that year near John D’Or Prairie.

Her body was discovered in a shallow grave, badly beaten, and clothes displaced.
