As of late afternoon, the fire proved to be somewhat inactive with little growth with some flank burning happening. It did move a small distance towards the Montney River around Range 70 north on the north side of Range Road 65. Cat Crew are standing by along the area to move in when conditions allow so.
They area around Many Islands seen some flare ups, ground and air crews were able to control them as of now.
Alberta Fire Services and ground crews have been monitoring the wildfire closely and as of now they are reporting no fire has encroached the Carters Camp area. Heavy smoke in the area may have people reporting concerns of this, however at this time there has been NO activity.
It is not uncommon to see flare ups in amongst the fire guarded areas, these areas are being monitored closely. We nonetheless still very much appreciate the calls that come in when spotted!
Highway 64 has been reopened for travel. However, we urge motorists to exercise caution due to potential low visibility caused by smoke in the area. Dedicated crews are actively working along the affected area of Highway 64.
ATCO, is in the process of repairing and restoring power to affected residents who have experienced outages and damages.
