Chamber Wants More Shopping Local To Help Reopened Businesses

Now that local businesses are able to start opening again, the Peace River and District Chamber of Commerce wants to see people supporting them by shopping local.

Chamber President Peter Herritt says this is a “prime opportunity” for people to support businesses in the community.

“Just going in and supporting the local businesses and instead of going directly to online shopping, going in and actually seeing and buying the products, you’re in turn supporting local businesses in the community.”

Herritt says with the struggles some stores have gone through with the shutdowns, supporting them can help the local economy.

“Being able to go in and shop local, going into the businesses is definitely going to help them come out of this. Being in the Peace Country, we’re very tight knit and the support is definitely going to be there. I can definitely foresee that coming.”

Some of the businesses that recently reopened include restaurants, barbers and hair salons.
