The Centre for Suicide Prevention has their “Buddy Up” campaign going on right now.

Akash Asif, the centre’s general relations director, says this campaign is focused on men’s suicide prevention.

“What we’ve done with this Buddy Up campaign is we’ve gotten over 50 guys involved to try and create a guide that can help us help our buddies. The campaign is promoting help offering behaviours, creating a community of people who can recognize warning signs and help their friends and their buddies.”

Asif adds that this campaign is especially important right now.

“A number of individuals are isolated right now and they might not be connecting with each other as much right now. I definitely think right now is a good time to begin these conversations and to encourage each other to have these conversations about mental health.”

Coming up later this month, the centre has their Virtual Run for Life taking place.
