The Food Bank in High Prairie getting close to one of their busy seasons.
Kim Dumont from the food bank says while the holidays always get a lot of attention, they usually find themselves “more busier” after Christmas.
“I find that’s because a lot of people try to spend time with their families and don’t think about having to access the food bank at that time because they’re thinking of family. Then in January, people are having just a little bit of a harder time, so we see a little increase in January and February.”
Dumont says they’re trying to get donations for not just food, but for other everyday items as well.
“For example, toothbrushes, toothpaste, any type of hygiene products. Body wash, shampoo, feminine products, stuff like that. I don’t think people think about donating. Anything that a person would use daily, maybe just kinda think about that.”
If you want to make a donation, you can call the Food Bank at (780) 523-5777.
