Bigstone Cree Nation Murder Victim ID’d; Police Say He’d Been Dead Since October

A body found at a home on Bigstone Cree Nation on Saturday, December 2, 2017 has been identified.

47-year-old Marvin Brian Auger was located deceased after a concerned relative went to go check on him.

A funeral service is set to take place at the Wabasca Community Hall on Wednesday, December 13.

On Wednesday, December 6, an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton determined that the Auger’s death was a homicide.

RCMP in Wabasca-Desmarais confirm that all evidence to date indicate that Auger was shot and killed inside his home sometime around the early morning hours of Thursday, October 26, leaving him dead for just over five weeks before he was finally discovered.

Investigators are looking for individuals with knowledge of this incident, and are seeking to speak with anyone who’s had contact with the victim on or shortly before that fateful day.
