Anyone connected to the Big Lakes County water supply will have to pay more this year. According to a statement from the county’s Facebook page, there will be a $0.60 jump in water rates to $5.45 per cubic metre. The county says the increase will allow it to recover a higher percentage of what it costs to operate its utilities as well as set aside some funds for future improvements including: water plants, sewage systems and distribution lines.
The new rate came into effect on January 1st, and the county says the new rate will show up on the January-February bills.
