Local firefighters and police officers will be hitting the ice for a charity hockey game on Saturday.
The “Battle of the Badges” will take place at the Baytex Energy Centre.
Organizer Drew Keddie says the preparations for the game have been going well.
“Every year we’ve chosen some local organizations that we think could benefit from some donations. This year, we’ll be donating to the RISK program, formerly the PARTY program, as well as the Peace River Regional Women’s Shelter.”
Keddie says this event has managed to bring people in the community together.
“Every year that we’ve done this, this will be our fourth, the event’s grown with last year being our biggest event community wise. We had about 585 people there. I think it’s just getting everybody together, there’s a lot of talk around town about it and I think that’s the intent is to benefit local organizations, but at the same time get the community together and have a fun game that lets everybody see a different side of us.”
Tickets for the game are $10 or a food bank donation, kids under 12 are free.
