Peace Regional RCMP investigate apartment fire
Peace River, Alta. – On Nov. 28, 2024 at approximately 2:00 p.m., while tending to another call to service, noticed potential fire at an apartment building on 99 Street, Peace River.
Peace Regional RCMP requested the assistance of the Peace River Fire Department as community members were alerting 911 dispatchers of the fire.
RCMP were able to enter the building and immediately began knocking on doors in attempt to warn occupants who had not started to make their way out of the building.
Through the course of the investigation, is has been learned that the fire is not suspicious in nature.
Peace Regional RCMP would like to extend appreciation to all agencies who assisted, including Emergency Medical Services, ATCO, building management, Town of Peace River and more; Peace Regional RCMP thanks the public for any assistances, and for respecting the scene and area to give space to all emergency services involved.
Beyond this, Peace Regional RCMP would like to highlight all local businesses who brought food, water, coffee and other supplies to emergency crews and displaced persons.

Fire crews were on scene until 3am fighting the fire in challenging winter conditions

Due to the extensive fire damage and difficulty accessing the fire, a portion of the building had to be brought down (demolished)

No injuries reported

Fire is under investigation

Lots of ice on the road in the 99 Street and 77 Ave area from the firefighting effort so motorists and pedestrians take caution

Road is open and no restrictions currently

Peace River FD had support from fire departments including Weberville, Grimshaw, Berwyn, Smoky River and Northern Sunrise County
